Another New Product! CTL™ Pneumatic Leather Many of our customers have requested that we provide Tan Colored Chrome Tanned Pneumatic Leathers. We are now pleased to provide this leather for projects where a tan leather is preferred. This leather has undergone the same special process to seal the pores in the leather to make it more airtight as our Æolian/Morton style leather. The prices are the same as our new Æolian/Morton Maroon leather. It is HERE! CML™ Pneumatic Leather We are pleased to offer our new Columbia Maroon, or "Æolian-Morton" style leather. This leather has undergone a special process which helps to seal the pores in the leather thus making a more airtight product. Many of our customers have requested that we supply this leather and now, after months of research to perfect the process, we are pleased to offer this popular product.
Our MissionColumbia Organ Leathers provides only high quality, Chrome (Cr2O3) Tanned leathers for use in the construction and restoration of Pipe Organs and other musical instruments. We do not provide vegetable or alum tanned leathers, as these have been shown to deteriorate much more quickly than full chrome tanned skins. For more information on the longevity of various types of leathers, we recommend that you purchase a copy of "The Aging or Organ Leather" by Harley Piltingsrud and Jean Tancous from the Organ Historical Society. You can visit the Organ Historical Society's Web Site at http://www.organsociety.org or go directly to the Aging of Organ Leather book by clicking here. We welcome your order as a professional builder / restorer or as a hobbyist. Established customers may order from this site using their open account. New customers are requested to use Visa or Master Card.
Company ProfileFounded in 1989 as a subsidiary of Columbia Organ Works, Inc., our firm secures high quality leather skins, has them tanned to our specifications, and then processes these skins for use in the Pipe Organ industry. Our leathers are also well suited for most other types of musical instruments which require leather. We are the only supplier to the musical instrument trade which processes our leathers to thickness on our own equipment. We do all of our own leather splitting and buffing "in house" on modern, precision equipment. All of our pneumatic skins are light table inspected for pin holes and blemishes.
